Abstract
The object of this article is to give to other branches of the electrical engineering profession some understanding of the work of the Electrical Branch of the Royal Navy. To do this adequately in a short article is not easy, so, as an example, the author has taken the administration and day-to-day work of the electrical department of a large aircraft carrier. It will be realized that warships differ in size and complexity and in their functions, and that the organization of departments differs in different ships, but the underlying principles remain the same. The article is based on Cmdr. Turnbull´s Address as Chairman of the SOUTHERN CENTRE, which he delivered at PORTSMOUTH on the 1st October, 1952.
