Abstract :
Experimental results are reported on acoustooptic interaction at 520 MHz in proton-exchange waveguides in Y-lithium niobate. The acoustooptic diffraction efficiency for an electrical input of 300 mW is 39% in proton-exchanged devices as compared to 22% in titanium-indiffused ones. The dynamic range observed in proton-exchanged and Ti-indiffused acoustooptic devices is 22 and 25 dB, respectively.<>
