Abstract :
A 565 Mbit/s optical DPSK and PSK transmission experiment is described. Stable monolithic Nd:YAG ring lasers were used as light sources. A PSK demodulation scheme achieved a receiver sensitivity of -53.4 dBm and was found to be 1.3 dB better than DPSK.
