Use of spreadsheets in electrical engineering

Initially, spreadsheet programs, e.g., Visicalc for the Apple computer, were developed for financial applications such as bookkeeping, etc. They soon also proved to be invaluable for so-called “hat-if”analysis for financial decision making, where various parameters resulting in the remunerativeness of an investment could be changed and the effect of any combination of such changes could be seen at a glance.
