Abstract :
Waveguiding in spun p-3BCMU films has been observed for the first time with laser diode sources, at lambda =860 nm and lambda =670 nm. Mode numbers for both TE and TM modes were measured by means of m-line spectroscopy, the results suggesting a strong film birefringence. Attenuation measurements carried out with the scanning fibre technique give values of about 10 dB/cm and 20 dB/cm at 860 nm and 670 nm, respectively.
