  • Abstract
An iterative range alignment method based on optimised weighted fitting (iterative optimised weighted fitting, IOWF) is proposed for inverse synthetic aperture radar imaging. The range of migration of the echo envelopes is modelled as a polynomial, and the coefficients of the polynomial are evaluated by optimised weighted fitting. Besides, in order to eliminate the jump errors, a cleaning operation is also proposed. Finally, the results based on both simulation experiments and real data are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed IOWF-based iterative method. The comparison with the traditional methods shows that the proposed method can effectively restrain the transmission of the jump errors and relieve the decline of the parameter estimation precision caused by the drift errors, especially for the target under a low-signal-to-noise ratio background.
