Abstract :
Ultra-sensitive PSK homodyne systems with nonlinear phase-locked loops (Costas and decision-driven loop) have been realised. Receiver sensitivities of -66.2 dBm (140 Mbit/s) and -57.5 dBm (565 Mbit/s) have been achieved in terms of detected effective signal power. Stable optical phase-locked loop operation has been observed clearly below -82 dBm of the optical input power.
