The Widebeam project ITC for engineering and manufacturing

An EC funded project within Esprit Integration in Manufacturing Task 8.20 ´Best practice in IT-based engineering and manufacturing´ is described. This was aimed particularly at small and medium sized enterprises. The needs of the project partners and the benefits obtained from the project are discussed, both being widely applicable to other organisations throughout Europe. The information provided will be of interest to the many small businesses seeking to update their IT and communications facilities, particularly in areas such as CAD/CAM and video conferencing. It will also be of interest to those considering seeking European funding for any collaborative work and to prospective project managers.
