Abstract :
On February 1, 1983, my close friend and colleague Anatol Ivan Zverev died suddenly of a heart attack while watching Mstislav Rostropovich conduct the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington. His main interest during his career was filters, as evidenced by his book, Handbook of Filter Synthesis. He published about 30 papers in the English language in the area of network theory and I had the good fortune of co-authoring the book Filtering in the Time and Frequency Domains with him.
