Abstract :
Four different high-tension transmission systems in the New York district have been grounded at different times during the past four years, all of which are operating with the grounded neutral at the present time. These systems were all grounded in a different manner and the results obtained from the effect of grounding showed that the troubles have been reduced. In addition to the grounding, special ground relays have been installed on three of the systems which disconnected the feeder very quickly on a ground and the results show that the addition of this quick acting relay further reduces the stresses on a system.
