Abstract :
Signal processing is in the midst of a major transition from a focus on classical signals in electrical engineering applications to a much wider usage devoted to the analysis of signals in a broad spectrum of science and engineering disciplines. Signal processing professionals are thus no longer limited to the traditional use of signal processing methodologies in speech, image, video, acoustics, radar, and sonar. Instead, the tools of signal processing are currently being employed to embark on new frontiers in science and technology by analysis of signals in diverse fields of astronomy, energy, finances, genomics, geosciences, privacy, security, social networks, and much more.
