Abstract :
A capacitor bank of 60 kJ energy is employed as the power supply. A maximum current of 30 kA can be obtained every two seconds and the charging voltage is 10 kV. A Bitter type magnet with three-layer structure has been developed. Bitter plates made of Cu-Ag alloy are used as the conductor and thin fiber-reinforced-plastic sheets are used as the insulator between the Bitter plates. The height of the solenoid type magnet is about 22 cm and the inner bore is 3 cm. The weight is about 30 kg. The pulse duration time of the magnet is about 1 ms. A pulsed neutron-source at KEK was combined with this system and neutron diffraction experiments were made in very high magnetic fields above 25 T.
