Abstract
We review the capabilities for construction of high performance pulse magnets at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) at Tallahassee. Particular attention is paid to a recently developed series of magnets wound with strong conductors supported by internal reinforcement. We introduced a new reinforcement scheme consisting of a Zylon/sup TM/ fiber/epoxy composite together with the cobalt based multiphase alloy MP35N/sup TM/. Using this new technology, performance is less restricted by excessive strain/stress in the midplane. Details of the design, winding, impregnation and recent test results are presented.
