Abstract
The repulsion motor with spatially fixed brushes provides, as the series-connected DC motor, a hyperbolical torque-speed characteristic and can be used in electrical traction applications. Variable speed operation is obtained by changing the position of the brushes. The authors present a repulsion motor with a static commutator that substitutes the classical repulsion motor commutator using digital operation through a control-loop. The prototype and the two types of commutator used in this project are explained, and the control-loop and control-process are studied.
