  • Abstract
I ask for a few minutes of your time to consider a matter which I feel is of vital importance to the future of our two electrical engineering technical societies in Canada. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. is a trans-national organization with headquarters in New York. Canada constitutes its Region 7. The approximately 12,000 Canadian members are part of the world´s largest electrical engineering society. Through membership in the Institute, they have access to a wealth of publications, conferences, specialized technical groups, societies and committees. In Canada, they have a section and group organization in many major centres, and are served by a national office. Most members feel that involvement in IEEE is highly desirable and frequently necessary for their technical careers.
