Abstract :
The problem of two-dimensional frequency estimation of a sinusoid embedded in complex white Gaussian noise is addressed. A frequency estimator and its statistical performance are derived. The estimator is demonstrated to be an efficient estimator (it achieves the Cramer-Rao bound) for high signal-to-noise ratios. The results of a computer simulator which compares the variance with that of the maximum likelihood estimator and the theoretical two-dimensional Cramer-Rao bound are presented
