This paper opens with a brief summary of accumulated knowledge with respect to the nature of electrical disturbances, and their mode of penetration into control, measurement and protection circuits of posts and generating stations, together with means of remedying the situation. It goes on to set aside certain misunderstandings concerning armoured cables, to conclude by opening the way for recommendations which will enable Hydro-Quebec to obtain better protection for its terminal equipment, cables and personnel.
