Abstract :
Many engineers find technical knowledge alone will not help them climb the corporate ladder, and new skills are needed to further their careers at a later stage. By combining business and management experience with educational and personal development, the Master of Business Administration degree can open up new opportunities and pave the way for accelerated promotion. Business schools have a long tradition of providing MBAs for the engineering industry and up to one-quarter of their students come from this field. The author describes how the MBA can shape careers, and briefly mentions a technical MBA for the power industry.
