  • Abstract
    This paper evaluates the effectiveness of different commercial relay functions in a local passive anti-islanding process for a permanent-magnet synchronous generator (PMSG)-based wind farm which is interfaced with a radial distribution network. The results are obtained through a comprehensive set of real-time simulation studies, conducted on a detailed topological model of a single-machine equivalent of the PMSG-based wind farm and the network, using three different commercial relays. The paper introduces the study set-up and methodology and, additionally, details of the mathematical and simulation models of the PMSG-based wind farm. The models and the methodology presented in this paper can be used, directly or with minor modifications, for many other impact-assessment studies.
