Abstract :
The market for surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices now exceeds $100 million. The author presents an overview of the different SAW device structures available and summarizes their properties. He then describes a number of applications related to the communications industry, including general bandpass filters, Nyquist filters, clock recovery filters, packaging labels and Fourier transformers.
