Abstract :
An accurate theoretical analysis of multichannel DPSK coherent optical communication system is presented for the first time. The analysis accounts for the crosstalk caused by an adjacent channel and for the influence of laser phase noise. It is found that the electrical domain channel spacing can be as small as 2.3 times the bit rate for a 1 dB penalty.
