Abstract
SiCp/Al composites is widely used in industries for its superior mechanical property, but the severe wear of tools in cutting of SiCp/Al composites limitits further application. PCD tools is proved to be adaptable in cutting SiCp/Al composites, but the rupture of PCD tool nose often occurs in milling SiCp/Al composites. In this paper the micro-interaction model in milling SiCp/Al composites is established to reveal the rupture mechanism. The interaction behavior is analyzed by considering cutting speed. The result shows there exists limit cutting speed to avoid the rupture of PCD tools nose in milling SiCp/Al composites. The limit cutting speed is 720m/min.
