Abstract :
This paper describes the effects of 60 Hz current flow and the aspects under which this current flow can create a problem, particularly in the hospital environment. The evolution of new surgical and diagnostic procedures has made it mandatory for the clinician and the clinical engineer to be well acquainted with the problem. This particularly applies to the clinical engineer who is charged with the responsibility of electrical hazard control and equipment maintenance in the hospital.
