Abstract :
This article describes an innovative firing technology, called ´microwave-assisted firing´, which was developed by EA Technology and is now the subject of a technology transfer project sponsored by the electricity supply industry, the DTI, through the LINK scheme, the Energy Efficiency Office through the Energy Technology Support Unit, and equipment manufacturers. Additionally, some 40 ceramic component and powder manufacturers from the UK, Germany and the USA, are working either as part of the consortium or on an individual basis in technology transfer.
