Abstract
The science of computing has advanced tremendously in 30 years, but computing for science is still — relatively — in the Eniac era. Yet, the need for powerful scientific computers is greater than ever. Three-dimensional computer modeling of the world´s energy resources, its weather, and its inhabitants has become a major concern of scientists and engineers.
