Abstract :
The authors propose a novel distributed optical-fibre temperature sensor whose physical mechanism is based on the frequency-derived technique using the optical Kerr effect. The system exhibits a spatial resolution of 0.6 m and temperature resolution of ±3°C. The behaviour of the system is examined for the temperature range 60-150°C. The system has the potential for application where a rapid response is required
