Abstract
Tapping of signal from an optical backplane which includes amplification also causes a loss of pump power at the tapping points. This pump loss can be a significant factor in limiting the number of ports that can be served through power budget considerations. A report is made on the fabrication of a dichroic tap capable of giving a pump rejection in excess of 10 dB.
