Abstract
Depending on the different legal framework regarding environment protection there exists more or less pressure for European grid operators to upgrade medium voltage OHL with bird protection devices. The larger the area for bird protection demands is the more important are live working methods for install bird protection devices on OHL. The paper deals with different bird protection devices and its live working technologies for installing and mounting. It will be point out, that depending on the used bird protection material most live working technologies are more cost effective than installing bird protection on switched off OHL.
