Abstract :
The ability of dimensional analysis to contribute to the design of devices and systems has been greatly enhanced by the development of the SI system of units which is consistent across all disciplines. This paper shows how dimensional analysis can be used to facilitate data acquisition, to develop equations relating system variables, and to interpret data from scaled or distorted models of a given system. The claim is made that every product now in existence can be used as a model of products yet to be designed.
