  • Abstract
The role of an advisor in engineering education is described in terms of increasing demands on educators. In addition to being helpful to current students, increased quality advising may lead to an increase in the number of faculty members in the future. Assuming that increased skills in advising will benefit students and faculty, engineering faculty initiated a mentor seminar. Results obtained from having conducted the seminar for two semesters show strong benefits to students. Opportunities for future work are described also.
