Abstract
The author presents a new vectorial strategy for designing line segment detectors. Its advantage is that only two template masks are required for computing the magnitude and orientation of a line segment. Hence it is significantly faster than other approaches to line segment detection. In addition, when set up correctly, the method is capable of a remarkable degree of accuracy, estimating line segment orientation to better than 0.4°
