Abstract :
A multiplicative multifractal model for variable bit rate video traffic is presented. The model simultaneously takes short and long range dependences into account. It only contains one parameter which can be readily estimated through multifractal analysis of the trace data. It is shown that the model can accurately capture the behaviour of a queueing system driven by actual video traffic over a wide range of utilisation levels
