Abstract
Thermionic emission of electrons through the liquid/vapor interface of Ar at the normal boiling point was measured. The minimum energy V 0 of the conduction band of the electrons in liquid Ar has been determined to be V 0 ≃126 meV below the level in vacuo. This result is in good agreement with previous data, if the latter are corrected for contamination effects
