Abstract
An analysis of the transient response of a Fabry-Perot filter (FPF) is presented. The impact of this phenomenon on the performance of optical frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) networks with direct detection is then analyzed. Results show that the transient effect of the filter can induce a considerable power penalty in OFDM networks when high bit rates are transmitted
