Abstract :
The paper analyzes the positive effects on a small local grid, obtained by the use of an electronic lighting device with high power factor. Although having a high power factor, the input current of the device is not a perfect sinusoidal waveform, which will not represent a negative aspect, but will have a positive effect on the local grid by obtaining, at a point of common coupling, a higher overall power factor and lower harmonic distortions. The results are compared with those of a perfect sinusoidal input current device, at the same rated power, obtained with an incandescent lamp.
