Abstract :
The Engineering Societies Employment service is conducted by the national societies of Civil, Mining, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineers as a cooperative bureau available to their membership, and maintained by the joint contributions of the societies and their individual members who are directly benefited. MEN AVAILABLE. — Under this heading brief announcements will be published without charge to the members. These announcements will not be repeated, except upon request received after an interval of three months, during which period names and records will remain in the active files of the bureau. Employers are referred to previous issues of the Journal. Notice for the JOURNAL should be addressed to EMPLOYMENT SERVICE, 33 West 39th Street, New York City. Such notices will not be acknowledged by personal letter, but if received prior to the 16th of the month will usually appear in the issue of the following month. OPPORTUNITIES. — A bulletin of engineering positions available will be published and will be available to members of the societies concerned at a subscription rate of $3 per quarter, or $10 per annum, payable in advance. VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS. — Members obtaining positions through the medium of this service are invited to cooperate with the societies in the financing of the work by nominal contributions. It is believed that a successful service can be developed if these contributions average $10 for all positions paying a salary of $2000 or less per annum; $10 plus one per cent of all amounts in excess of $2000 per annum, temporary positions (of one month or less), three per cent of total salary received. The income contributed by the members, together with the finances appropriated by the four societies named above, will, it is hoped, be sufficient to increase and extend the service. REPLIES TO ANNOUNCEMENTS. — Replies to announcements published herein or in the Bulletin, should be addressed to the key number indicated i- each case, and forwarded to the Employment service as above. Replies received by the bureau after the positions to which they refer have been filled, will not be forwarded.
