Abstract :
Digital computers have become so much a part of our modern existence that one can hardly write a cheque or buy a cream cake without standing a good chance of causing a few pulses to reverberate around a mass of electronics. Computer use in data processing is very high and increasing at a fantastic rate, but only a relatively small proportion of engineering analysis and development is aided in this way. There are many complex reasons for this apparent limited use, but the overriding inhibiting factor is the poor availability of convenient engineering-oriented machines.
