Tomorrow´s engineer meeting the needs of tomorrow´s company

The author considers the needs and qualities of tomorrow´s engineer by considering the environment in which he or she is likely to work. This article begins by reviewing some of the findings of the RSA Inquiry into Tomorrow´s Company. It then considers what role the engineer has to play in each of the five key relationships that the Inquiry identified, before considering some of the trends in technology which will continue to change the industrial backcloth. Finally, the article tries to suggest what specific action the profession should now be taking.
