Abstract :
This paper deals with the issue of small power tapping from HVDC transmission systems. Based on the availability of powerful solid-state devices in the market, a novel solution is proposed and studied. The proposed scheme is digitally simulated by the aid of the EMTDC/PSCAD software package. Simulation results indicate the feasibility of the proposed scheme. The operation of the tapping station meets necessary standards in terms of power quality as well as the nondependency of the tapped power on the normal range of power being transmitted through the HVDC line
