Abstract :
This paper presents a new fuzzy-set based algorithm for optimal distribution network switching. The algorithm deals with feeder contingencies and service restoration. Optimality is pursued to obtain a preventive solution to avoid further contingencies. Issues of the inter-feeder load balance and inter-phase load balance are emphasized. A fast algorithm has been developed by the fuzzy approach to avoid numerical computation and the state-space of all the feasible solutions is confined by a limited search instead of the time-consuming exhaustive search
