Abstract :
A simple channel allocation scheme called the deterministic multicast channel allocation protocol (DMCAP) that allocates IEEE-1394 logical channels for IP multicast groups is presented. Even though performance evaluations indicate that DMCAP entails a sizeable packet filtering overhead, it is still a method of choice because it is simple and supports impromptu packet transmission and reception
