Abstract :
The requirements of verifying the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE-I), signed in Paris in November 1990, are outlined. The goals of verification are discussed. Some problems specific to verifying conventional forces are identified. Two basic inventory models that have been proposed for use in CFE treaties are described and their technology requirements are examined.<>
