Abstract :
IEEE-USA is challenging US college students to create YouTube videos that reinforce "How Engineers Make a World of Difference" for an 11-to-13-year-old "tween" audience. The organization is striving to tap the enthusiasm of US college students to spark younger students\´ creativity and ingenuity, and to encourage this age group\´s interest in learning about engineering. IEEE-USA also seeks to expand broader public understanding of engineering through the dis semination of these videos in its sixth-annual online video scholarship competition. As part of its 2012-13 engineering video competition, IEEE-USA will present three scholarship awards, totaling US$5,000, to US undergraduates and graduates who create the most effective two-minute YouTube video clips: first place ($2,500), second place (US$1,500), and third place (US$1,000). Entries will be judged by a professional engineering panel on their effectiveness in reaching the target audience by portraying engineers as creative problem-solvers who turn ideas into reality. Additional judging criteria include quality of production, and number of YouTube viewers at the entry deadline.
