Abstract :
The authors report the detailed gain and noise figure characterisation of a 68 km long distributed erbium doped fibre amplifier (DEDFA) using a fibre design optimised for this application. The results, representing significant improvements over DEDFA performances reported hitherto, confirm the success of our optimised fibre design
