Abstract
Transmission of digital subband coded images over lossy packet networks presents a reconstruction problem at the decoder. This correspondence addresses the design of a family of quadrature mirror filters (QMFs) that minimize the mean-squared error of mean-reconstructed low-frequency subband coefficients. The resulting filters perform well as QMFs as well as provide the desired reconstruction properties in the event of loss
