  • Abstract
This paper discusses modeling of physical systems in an engineering context. The key to judicious approximation is a good conceptual understanding of how the world works, which comes only through experience and hard work. One of the benefits of working in this area is that whereas most things in life go downhill with age, the ability to solve technical problems through judicious approximation and modeling continues to improve, presumably to the onset of senility.
