Abstract :
Pulsed phototransistor switches using profiled optical drive have been extended to control power transistors. The principle has been tested using the criterion of switching several hundreds of watts. With low-cost LEDs and phototransistors for the optical isolation, power output switch times well below 1 Ms have been demonstrated
