Abstract
The design and measurement results of a fully differential variable gain amplifier, which is suitable as a low noise amplifier in a V-band receiver, are presented. The amplifier provides a measured gain of S21 = 18 dB at a noise figure of NF = 6.5 dB. Input and output are matched to a differential 100 Ω impedance. Control currents allow easy steering of the gain in a wide range, impairing neither input nor output matching.
