Abstract
The iterative delay estimation method is based on its analogy with parameter estimation of sinusoids in correlated noise. It assumes a-priori knowledge of echo waveform, their number, and the structure of the covariance matrix of noise. The advantages of this method are improved resolution as compared to the conventional matched filter approach and convergence, in a few iterations, to maximum likelihood estimate
