Abstract :
Vascular reconstruction from volume medical data is an essential task in computer aided minimally invasive vascular diagnosis and surgery. Due to the high complexity of the branching structure of the vascular tree, representing and reconstructing vascular geometries in explicit form is shown to be inherently difficult. In this paper, an implicit method is introduced for the reconstruction of vascular surface using a shape-preserving implicit blending operation. Some key issues concerning implicit vascular modelling and reconstruction are investigated. Initial experiments show that the proposed technique is more appealing over the explicit methods in terms efficiency and effectiveness.
